I speak to college students at USC!
Hey everyone,
Yeah, it's been a while, but I've been busy with a bunch of things, like writing a new Mixmag article, doing the usual Awards Season events for Getty, and other gigs here and there. However, a big new development has just recently took place: DJ/producer Christopher Lawrence and I just gave a symposium at USC to a class of undergrads. The occasion was a class about Electronic Music, hosted by professor Sean Nye of USC's Musicology department. Christopher and I gave the students a chat and Q&A about the history of West Coast rave culture, and also of the development of trance and psy-trance music. Here's a link to the audio recording we made at the event:

It was a real pleasure to be able to pass down my classic rave knowledge to this class of EDM-generation students. The recording is over 90 minutes long, and since it was done in a classroom and not a recording studio, the audio quality is listenable, though not exactly tack-sharp. Still, it makes for a good listen, as Christopher and I covered a lot of ground and came up with some quite interesting comments. The students were bright and attentive, and I think that these two old farts managed to get in a few good points with those kids. Hope that you enjoy the listen.
