DJ MAG "Stayin' In" re-port #7: CUPHEAD

Cuphead: this long-awaited stunning run-and-gun side scroller takes the genre in an entirely new and eclectic direction. Instead of following the traditional 1990s space-based formula like so many others have done, Cuphead completely jumps off into left field, going back six decades to the world of 1920s pre-Disney animation. You know, the shorts where all the characters constantly bobbed and weaved in regular motions…not unlike ravers, come to think about it! Gamers of the EDM generation will be floored by the brightly colored, uber-retro cartoon universe, one that they’ve had very limited exposure to before. The game has already sold over a million in the two weeks since its release, so count on Cuphead being one of the holiday season must-haves.
